在美国加州圣地亚哥土生土长的Gabriel Munguia。已将近11年没在家乡生活了。有六个妹妹和一个哥哥的他，在墨西哥也有一个家。
在中国上海生活了七年之后，他继续在上海安家。在1999到2004年期间他作为著名绘?shy;大师陈逸飞（点击进入）的学徒继续从事他的艺术生涯。然而不幸的是，陈逸飞在2005年4月逝世。
1997年他在香港大学学习中华艺术历史。1998年在欧盟学习绘?shy;和素描。他也频繁地到澳大利亚和土耳奇旅行。Gabriel Munguia的作品大量地被中国大陆，美国，英国，新西兰，墨西哥，西班牙，法国，澳大利亚的收藏家收藏。
Influences, and Success:
I visited Shanghai in the summer of 1999, after graduating from university. My first jobs were teaching English at East China Normal University and modelling厖 Yes, those were the days! I soon found that I enjoyed mixing jobs in the fashion and entertainment industries with my passion in painting. Between 1999 and 2004 I painted and worked as an apprentice for the Chinese artist/designer Chen Yifei He inspired my work and was the main reason I stayed in Shanghai at the beginning. Tragically Chen passed away in April of 2005.
Another strong influence upon my life is my multicultural experience. My parents are originally from Guadalajara and Nayarit, Mexico. They raised a large family in California, where I am one of two sons amongst six sisters. However, I left the easy comforts of America and have travelled far. I studied Chinese art history at Hong Kong University in 1997 and painting/drawing in Europe in 1998.
Initially, international residents of Shanghai bought my art. I am happy to see that now, in addition to purchasers from the Americas, England, Australia/New Zealand and Europe; Mainland Chinese appreciate and collect my paintings.
